RN32 - Political Sociology

The Research Network on European Political Sociology is a site for debate on the ongoing transformation of political order and authority in Europe and beyond.

The ESA Political Sociology Research Network (RN32) is a site for debate on the ongoing transformation of political order and authority in Europe and beyond. The Research Network is an important driving force in the development and expansion of a sociological approach towards European integration and European society. The RN has a Facebook page, a Twitter handle and a website.

In the context of the ESA, the Research Network 32 organizes panels at the bi-annual ESA general conference. The Research Network further organizes interim conferences on a bi-annual basis, focussing on European political sociology and bringing together a variety of scholars interested in this theme. Interim conferences of the RN32 have been held regularly: Lille (November 2010), Milan (November 2012), Copenhagen (November 2014), Brussels (October 2016), Prague (November 2018), Maynooth/online (October 2020). The next one will be in Lausanne, in November 2022.

We seek to support the research and publishing activities of our members; we aim at providing a space for academic discussion and information on political sociology in Europe; we endeavour to link our association to other political sociology associations. The Research Network is further associated with a most successful book series in European Political Sociology, published by Palgrave (series editors: Carlo Ruzza and Hans-Joerg Trenz).
