The European Sociological Association organized the first editions of the ESA Best Article Awards and ESA Young Scholar Award in 2021. These award honours the Best Article published in each one of the ESA journals, European Societies and European Journal of Cultural and Political Sociology, in the two preceding years (2019-2020) and also the best paper from a PhD dissertation.

Lígia Ferro from Portugal, was elected as President of ESA for the term 2021-2023. The ESA members have also elected a new Executive Committee integrated by the following colleagues:

ESA was informed that the Ministry of Education in Greece has withdrawn sociology and social sciences courses from the secondary education curriculum and undermined the importance of social sciences for educating the country’s youth.
