ESA facing Covid-19

Dear colleagues,

Sociologists we are today in collaboration with the entire society in the search for actions that can help to overcome the dramatic situation we are facing in Europe and worldwide. The outbreak of Covid-19 has suddenly changed our lives. We are taking care of our families and friends, many of us confined at home, we are also active citizens in the social networks. We also continue to work as sociologists, contributing with analyses oriented to improve, within this scenario, the lives of all.

Many Midterm conferences are being postponed or cancelled. Teresa Carvalho, ESA Chair of Research Networks’ Council has already contacted all the Coordinators with concrete details on how to proceed. We want to recognize the work that the RNs are putting to organize these events and ask for patience to all of you. Fortunately, European sociologists we are working in solidarity through our associations, and ESA is at service to us all. Anything you might need, please contact the Paris Office, they keep working for you from home and will transfer all your messages to the Executive Committee.

These are times in which science and solidarity make all the difference to all.

Information about the ESA Office, located in Paris, France: Since 16 March 2020, the host building of the ESA Office, the Fondation Maison des Sciences de l'Homme (FMSH) is closed until further notice, but at least until 11 May 2020.
